IMPLANTS

A dental implant is just an artificial tooth root made of titanium. It is approximately the size of a natural tooth root.

The number of implants incorporated in the patient's mouth is not always the same as the number of teeth missing. We can prepare independent implantation for several points and then, on these implants we can support individual missing teeth or create a support for a bridge. (picture of an implant-supported bridge). Merely two implants can provide additional support and stabilization for full dentures. The process of incorporating an implant into the patient's bone is not painful - it is enough to use the same dental anaesthesia as in case of tooth extraction. The only sensation the patient might experience is a certain degree of vibration that accompanies the process of bone drilling.

There may be two types of implantation used: one-stage implantation for single-phase dental implants, or two-stage implantation for two-phase dental implants.

One-stage implantation consists of a single interference in tissues surrounding the implant. Usually, after the implant has been incorporated in the patient's bone, a structure for temporary prosthetic reconstruction is added and the upper part of the implant is visible above the gum.

Two-stage implantation consists of drilling a pilot hole in the patient's bone, inserting an implant and closing the operative area.

Within the next 6-12 weeks the implant "gets accepted" and osteoblast cells use their appendages to get attached to pores of the titanium plasma that covers that implant. Then the so-called osteointegration, i.e. making a connection between ordered living bone and the surface of the implant takes place. It is this stage that is a guarantee of success in longtime keeping of the implant. After this strong support has been created, we can commence with the second stage - the uncovering of the load-carrying surface of the implant and insertion of a healing screw. After around 10 days, impression is taken and prosthetic rebuilding of the missing teeth is made.

Presented below are sample procedures for implantation and restoration of a single tooth or several teeth. www.nobelsmile.pl

One tooth missing

  1. Before commencing with the treatment
A dentist examines the patient and orders taking at least one X-ray picture of the area where an implant is to be inserted in order to prepare for the treatment.

  2. Insertion of the implant
First, the implant is inserted. At the same time, a temporary tooth is placed onto it, so that the patient can live and eat normally almost immediately. Before proceeding to take the next step, it is necessary to wait a few months so that the implant gets integrated with the bone.

  3. Placing a new crown
The last stage consists of inserting a permanent ceramic tooth. The new tooth is placed on the titanium screw permanently and no further treatment is necessary.

  4. Final result
The new tooth will look like natural teeth and will function in the same way. It is necessary to care about oral hygiene in order for the teeth and gums to be healthy.

Several teeth missing

  1. Before commencing with the treatment
Three teeth missing at the back of the mouth. The only real possibility to replace these teeth is to insert a permanent bridge. The bridge comprises all three teeth in one element and is placed onto dental implants.

  2. Insertion of the implants
Implants are inserted first. It is usually done during one visit and one session. At the same time, it is possible to place a temporary bridge onto them so that the patient can live and function normally almost immediately after leaving the dental clinic.

  3. Placing of the bridge
Before a permanent bridge can be places, implants need to integrate with the jaw bones. It usually takes 1-2 months after the insertion of implants. The period of time needed depends on the number of teeth and aesthetic requirements.

  4. Final result
The new bridge will be able to bear the same load as healthy, natural and strong teeth. Thus the final result is a stable and safe solution that enables the patient to eat everything he or she wants.

Do you wear dentures?
Would you like to be able to bite and chew like you used to, smile as much as you want, speak clearly and feel comfortable?

Ankylos® SynCone®
is a dependable solution. This is due to implants that get strongly integrated with the jaw bones and which assure stable placing and keeping of the dentures. This type of implantology treatment is now conducted in a very simple and delicate way.

SynCone®

What is SynCone®?
SynCone® is a patent-protected course of treatment that consists in a very strong and stable placement of the lower denture. Thanks to special golden caps supported on the implants, your denture will stop moving in an uncontrollable way. You will feel confident again and will be able to bite an apple.

This method is only used for the implantology system Ankylos®. It has been checked, verified and scientifically documented. The prototype of this treatment was based on the so-called Ledermann protocol, the success rates of which are as high as 97-99%, and which has been successfully used for over 25 years.

SynCone®: what is the purpose of treatment?
The treatment aims at a stable and safe placement of full lower denture. The patient gets the impression that he or she is using a fixed denture (the placement of the denture is as strong and stable as cement-retained bridge constructions) and at the same time he or she is still capable of taking out the denture in order to keep the highest levels of hygiene.

SynCone® why removable dentures?
Removable dentures (that can be taken out from the mouth) allow older patients to keep very high levels or oral hygiene and to take proper care of the dentures themselves. Ageing means our motorical abilities decrease and so it becomes easier for older patients to properly clean removable dentures and fixing elements by means of a special brush and washes for oral hygiene. If hygienic requirements and standards are not met for implants, complications might arise and, as a result, treatment might prove ineffective.

SynCone® : stabilno¶ć i pewno¶ć
The patent-protected system for placing the denture onto implants by means of prefabricated golden caps is unique. Due to high precision and accuracy used in the process of production, the elements are matched precisely and meticulously. This type of very precise conical connections is used e.g. in aviation industry for fixing aircraft engines onto aircraft wings.

SynCone® treatment stages:

  • 1 visit: examination and consultation. During this visit, the doctor will evaluate the anatomic conditions within the oral cavity and will order additional diagnostic tests such as panoramic photograph or blood tests. The dentist will also assess teeth occlusion and will decide whether it is necessary to prepare a new denture. If so, then before commencing with the patient needs to get a new denture.

  • 2 visit: surgical treatment and placement of a new denture. The doctor will use local anaesthesia and will then insert into the jaw bones 4 Ankylos® implants without the patient feeling any pain. Then he will place special golden caps and connections onto the implants and on the denture so as to enable strong and stable placement of the denture right after the treatment. When the anaesthesia stops working, the patient might feel slight pain in the area where the treatment was performed. Nonetheless the pain is so slight that patients do not usually need to take any painkillers.

  • 3 visit: checkup and removal of sutures: after 1 week the doctor will remove the sutures, which is a painless operation. He or she will also evaluate the process of gum healing.

10 frequently asked questions

  1. What is Ankylos® SynCone®?
Thanks to Ankylos® implants, denture currently used by the patient can be fixed in a toothless jaw right after the implants have been inserted into the jaw bone. The patients can start using their denture immediately after the doctor has completed the treatment.

  2. How will my denture be fixed in my jaw?
In the frontal part of the jaw, when the patient is under local anaesthetic, four implants will be inserted. The denture will be fixed on special connections (that look like poles) which are placed onto the implants.

  3. How long does it take?
Immediately after implants have been inserted into the jaw bone, and when the patient is still under anaesthetic, the denture will be firmly placed onto the implants. Altogether it will take around to hours and you will leave the clinic with firmly placed "false teeth".

  4. Can my jaw undergo this type of treatment?
In order to see if the patient's jaw can undergo this kind of treatment, it is enough to get a proper X-ray photograph. The doctor will then evaluate the patient's anatomic and health condition.

  5. Will my jaw bones accept implants?
Implants ANKYLOS® are made from medically pure titanium. No incompatibility or allergy cases have been noted. There are only a few conditions that discourage using implantation.

  6. What should I pay attention to right after the implantation?
After the treatment, the denture must be worn all the time for two weeks. During this time, patients are asked to eat only soft foods and restrain from physical effort.

  7. What happens if an implant is rejected?
The success rate in case of this method is 97.5%. Shall however an implant be rejected, the doctor can insert a new one.

  8. How long can implants be used?
When patients take proper care to ensure the highest level of oral hygiene, combined with regular checkup after the treatment, the system ensures long-term comfort, which means the patients will be able to wear their dentures without any problems for a long time.

  9. How much does this course of treatment cost?
In comparison to other implantation systems used for toothless jaw, the system offered by ANKYLOS® SynCone® is quite affordable.

  10. Where can I get Ankylos® SynCone®?
You can get SynCone® from your dentists or oral surgeons who use the ANKYLOS® implantation system. See www.syncone.pl.
